Booking Payments

Check the price before you pay, and follow payment updates in your booking.

Paying for a booking

When a paid booking is awaiting payment, use the payment action in the booking to open Stripe Checkout. Every booking starts with a request and needs Host acceptance before payment.

PopShare confirms a paid booking when Stripe confirms the payment. After checkout, check your bookings for the payment and booking status.

The PopShare service fee

PopShare arranges each booking as an agent between the Booker and the Host. Whoever makes the booking pays the PopShare service fee on top of the Host’s price: the Host’s price is paid to the Host in full, and the service fee is PopShare’s own charge for arranging the booking. A business that hosts can also book, so who pays the fee depends on your role in each booking.

The PopShare service fee is 10% of the booking price, with a minimum of £2 for paid bookings. There is no fee on free bookings. For example, on a £100 booking the Booker pays £110 and the Host receives £100.

The PopShare service fee is shown as a separate line before you pay: on the request form, on a Host’s quote and at Stripe Checkout. Bookings requested or quoted before the service fee was introduced keep the prices they were made at.

Read the PopShare Payments Statement for a short explanation of how money moves.

Confirmation emails and receipts

PopShare sends a payment-confirmation email to the Booker and a booking-confirmation email to the Host after successful payment. Emails may take time to arrive; you can check the booking directly.

Once payment is confirmed, Bookers can open a receipt from the booking. The receipt shows the booking price and the PopShare service fee as separate lines. Hosts can open a statement showing the booking price and their payout. Use your browser’s print option to print it or save it as a PDF.

A Host’s invoice covers the listed or quoted price only. The PopShare service fee is PopShare’s own charge to the Booker, so it appears on PopShare’s receipt rather than on the Host’s invoice.

Payouts to Hosts

Hosts connect their business to Stripe through payment settings. Payouts are released through Stripe Connect after the booking is completed. Hosts receive the full booking price; the PopShare service fee is paid by the Booker.

If a booking is refunded in full, the Booker gets back the whole amount paid, including the PopShare service fee. If a booking is partly refunded under the cancellation policy, the PopShare service fee is refunded in the same proportion as the booking price.

For cancellation questions, read Refunds and Cancellations. You can also read the payment terms in our Terms and Conditions.
